What is a torrent? │How does it work?

What is a torrent?

Before we know what a torrent is, let's look at how the normal download process works. Suppose you enter a web address in your internet browser. The information comes from the server of that website, and the site is displayed in your browser. This way, when you download a file, it is transferred to your computer or mobile from the server where it is stored. So it was about a user.

But when thousands of users try to access that website or any file at once, that web server needs to be much stronger. And later that server needs to support much higher speed internet. Moreover, not all users will be able to properly see the web page.

The site will take a long time to load. So, in this case, if you want your site to be seen by thousands of users at once or your file can be downloaded thousands of times at once, then you need to use a potent server.

So that was the normal download process. Let's talk about the torrent download process. For example, if you want to share a file for download in the normal download process, you must upload it to the Internet server first. But there is no specific server for torrent.

Suppose the file I want to share is saved on my laptop or computer. Now I will go to a torrent website and create a torrent of the file there. Now, if any of you download that torrent and add it to any torrent client, then the torrent client will start sending the file from me to you slowly. The file will reach you according to my internet speed, the speed at which the file is being uploaded, and your internet speed.

If someone else starts downloading that torrent, that user will download the file from two places. One can download from me because I am uploading from the beginning, and the second can also download from you. Similarly, when that user starts downloading, he will also become a new source of that file.

And the source of the file will be 3. This way, when another new user enters, he will download the file from 3 places. So Torrent creates a network of one-to-one networks, through which the same file can be sent to many places at once and can be downloaded and uploaded simultaneously from many sources.

Now you may be thinking that only 2% of the files reached me, so which one am I uploading and which one am I downloading? So see, Torrent always downloads your files in many pieces. The torrent starts downloading and uploading the same piece of file from where it is received. And finally, combines all the pieces from all sources to give you a complete file.

Torrent works mainly on two main terms,

1.Cedars and

2. Leechers.

What are cedars and leechers?

See Torrent Cedars are all users who are downloading and uploading the torrent. Whenever you download a torrent, you are shown how many cedars there are. And if there are more cedars, if many people upload the file together, it becomes a healthy torrent.

Then comes the leechers. Leechers are also called peers. So, friends, Leechers, or Peers are those users who are downloading the torrent at that moment

Suppose you want to download a torrent with ten thousand cedars and twelve thousand leechers. That means ten thousand users are uploading that file, and twelve thousand users are downloading it. In this case, if you start downloading the file, you will get an excellent download speed. Because there are so many uploads at once, you can download the file from many sources.

Suppose there are only 2 cedars and 2,000 leechers in a torrent. In this case, if you try to download the file, you will get a deficient download speed. Because only two users are uploading the file and it is spreading to 2,000 users.

Then there is another thing called Active Seeders. Active Cedars are all users who download the file once with the client's help but leave the file in the torrent client even after the download is complete. As a result, he may not be downloading the file yet, but he is constantly uploading the file according to his upload speed. And he is helping all the other users to increase the download speed.

Some users keep the upload speed very low while downloading torrents. The torrent client has the option to control the upload speed. As a result, he is just a cedar, to say the least, but with the speed at which he uploads 2-3 kilobytes per second, the torrent can not be healthy.

What is a magnet link?

Magnet Link is a new technology in the world of torrents. See a hash table attached to the magnet link. And it uses a hash table to locate nodes around it and track where files are being uploaded and where they are being downloaded. He then tries to connect to Cedars and slowly connects all the nodes, and starts downloading files. Some torrent clients use trackers to find uploads, while some torrent clients use magnet links.

What to do to download high-speed torrent?

If you ever need to download a torrent later, you must first consider the number of torrent ciders. The more cedars, the better. The ratio of cedars to leechers also needs to be adjusted later. Because let's say a torrent of cedars is 10 thousand, but leechers are 1 target. However, the torrent will not be healthy, and you will not get good download speeds. So the ratio of cedars and leechers needs to be right.

Torrent valid or invalid?

Many say torrent is used for piracy, and it is illegal. Yes, torrent is also used for piracy, but torrent is not just for piracy. You can use a torrent to share any files. Even the biggest software companies take the help of torrents to provide their software updates. Even then, if you have a JK sitting in your mind that torrent is legal or illegal, I will tell you the details about that now.

See what you have learned so far, put it aside, and listen carefully that the whole torrent process is a valid system. The technology behind the torrent works—the client you use to download torrents, whether bit-torrent or u-torrent, is valid. But a huge part of the work that users use torrents is illegal, such as using torrents to download pirated movies, software, songs, etc. Since piracy is illegal, torrent processing used in this work is also illegal. Let's clear the whole thing up with a simple example.

Suppose I wrote a book or made a song. And the real creator of this book or song is me, or if I copy it from someone, I have copied it with a suitable signature. In this case, if I wanted to share my book with the whole world for free or quickly reach everyone, I did so using torrent. In this case, since the original creator shared the file, the entire torrent process must be legal.

But most users use torrents to download pirated online movies, music, TV serials, software, etc. And these are all but copyrighted content. And the one who uploaded it, the one who uploaded it in violation of copyright, and by downloading that file, you also became a part of piracy. And since piracy is completely illegal, the torrenting process you use is also completely illegal. So the real issue is that the torrent process is not invalid at all, but it depends on your usage, whether that processing is valid or invalid.

See piracy laws but much stricter. Suppose you have a song on your phone that is pirated. You may have downloaded it from a website, and you may not have uploaded the file. But if the copyright holder of that song wants to sue you, you're done. Even though you did not upload the file, you still have the same piracy share as you have the file. And if you use torrent, then your whole torrent process also becomes invalid.
